Apple iPad Air review: Thinner, lighter, faster, best

Average User Rating

4.0 stars 18 user reviews

The good: The iPad Air delivers more performance and comparable battery life in an attractive and impossibly thin-and-light package. An improved front-facing camera makes FaceTiming look better, and the Retina Display still looks great.
The bad: The Touch ID fingerprint scanner, introduced on the iPhone 5S, is sadly absent here, meaning you’ll still have to type in a passcode with every unlock and a password with every purchase. Starting at $499 for 16GB, it’s still expensive compared with the competition.
The bottom line: Functionally, the iPad Air is nearly identical to last year’s model, offering only faster performance and better video chatting. But factor in design and aesthetics, and the iPad Air is on another planet. It’s the best full-size consumer tablet on the market.

Nokia X Android smartphone priced at Rs. 8,500

Nokia had unveiled its Nokia X range of smartphones at the Mobile World Congress.

Nokia's first Android-based model Nokia X will be available in India from March 15. Nokia X, which is priced at Rs. 8,500, is a dual SIM handset, featuring a four-inch touchscreen, dual core 1 GHz processor, 512 MB RAM and supports expandable memory up to 32GB.

Powered by Android Jellybean OS, Nokia X has a 3MP rear camera. Nokia X is already available for pre-booking at electronics retailer The Mobile Store.

Nokia, whose handset business was bought by Microsoft last year, had unveiled its Nokia X range of smartphones - X, X+ and XL - powered by Google's Android operating system at the Mobile World Congress on February 24.

It had said Nokia X will be rolled out (prices starting starting at 89 euros or about Rs. 7,500) in Asia-Pacific, Europe, India, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.

The Nokia X+ and Nokia XL are expected to roll out in these markets starting early second quarter, priced at 99 euros (Rs. 8,300) and 109 euros (Rs. 9,200), respectively.

The phones are not pure Android phones but run a variant of Android. Nokia has taken the open-source elements of Android and added elements of Asha and Microsoft's Windows Phone to offer its users a different experience.

Apple and Google are tops in the mobile space, according to new data from research firm ComScore.
Apple was the No. 1 smartphone manufacturer, with its iPhones capturing 41.6 of the US market during the three months ended January 2014, said ComScore. That figure is an average of the three months and bests the 40.6 percent average Apple posted in October 2013. Samsung came in the second spot with 26.7 percent share, while LG came in third with 6.9 percent.
